“A Community Thrives” fundraiser challenge: Sept. 21-Oct.16

We need your help! If you are MissingLiveTheatre like we are - please donate to “A Community Thrives” fundraiser today.

NBCT has been closed for the past six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic and NC regulations. This has been a very challenging time for our community, and we hope that we can all get back on track in the near future. As a community theatre, 80% of our revenue comes from the ticket sales of our productions and special events. Since the pandemic, we have been forced to postpone or cancel 13 events, which has not only impacted our finances but the very essence of what we do. We miss live theatre, our volunteers, and the community that has supported us for over 52 years.

In the past several months, we have been using our time to streamline our internal operations and policies. We have been hard at work cleaning out our buildings, repainting the café, writing grants, and applying for disaster loans, so we are able to continue the magic of live theatre in the most efficient and safe way possible once we are able to reopen.

We have an opportunity to qualify for much-needed grants through the “A Community Thrives” fundraiser challenge, which runs from September 21-October 16. The challenge is sponsored by Gannett Media Corp (An Affiliate of USA Today) and administered by Mightcause. All donations to NBCT through the Mightcause link: (acommunitythrives.mightycause.com/story/Nbctmissinglivetheater) will be counted in the challenge. The organizations with the highest donations will be eligible for grants from $2,500 to as high as $100,000. All donations must be received through the Mighty Cause link to be counted. Donations made directly to the organization during the challenge period will not be qualified in the challenge count. Of course, any donation is greatly appreciated

The challenge ends October 16 at 12 pm and ALL donations made, regardless of the grant, will come to NBCT. Gannett Media Corps, USA Today, or Mighty Cause do not take any part of the donations our community contributes. Your donation will help NBCT during this difficult time and will ensure another 52 years of wonderful live productions in our beautiful Athens Theatre.
